Diablo 4 Map Is Much Larger Than You Think

The map for Diablo 4's official release seems to be far larger than the test map, stretching out into Sanctuary and beyond.

The Diablo 4 map is significantly bigger than anybody anticipated. Blizzard has recently completed the two weekends of beta testing for Diablo 4, giving gamers their first peek at the game's universe. Many dedicated players conquered the map, conquering all dungeons, traveling into basements and caves, leveling up their character, and defeating the global monster. With so much material available, fans are optimistic that the whole game will have much for both newbies and series veterans to explore.

The Fractured Peaks, a hilly, glacial terrain with frost-bitten adversaries and terrible circumstances, is included in Diablo 4's beta map. Importantly, The Fractured Peaks highlight how Diablo 4 leverages greater verticality in level design to give variation to explore and keep players on the lookout for hidden goodies. The mobs depicted so far have transcended the glorified cannon fodder of previous Diablo games, giving more formidable adversaries and more diversified confrontations. Despite its incredible abundance of original stuff, The Fractured Peaks is just a minor portion of Diablo 4's overall map.

Diablo 4's whole map is larger than any previous Diablo game

Diablo 4's beta map is just around one-fifth the size of the complete Diablo 4 area. According to a leaked screenshot of the whole map (via Game Rant) in which other parts have been covered, the full game will contain four further locations – this corresponds to Diablo's customary five act structure approach to narrative advancement. The Dry Steppes and Kehjistan Empire in the western deserts, the swampy Hawezar jungles to the southeast, and the home of the druids, Scosglen, in the north, are among the other locales. Each of these areas has a unique landscape and fresh populations to connect with.

Diablo 4 Allows For Expansion Across Sanctuary

Going from the test map of Diablo 4 to the complete game map, it seems that even this is just a tiny fraction of the greater Diablo globe from earlier games. The Diablo series is set in Sanctuary, a world formed thousands of years ago by the angel Inarius and Diablo 4's primary villain Lilith using the power of the Worldstone. Diablo 4's whole map seems to include the upper half of Sanctuary's eastern continent, accounting for around one-third of the overall land mass.

As a result, it's feasible that future Diablo 4 DLC may expand even farther, enabling the player to travel the western continent of Sanctuary and its islands. Many memorable locales from prior editions in the series, such as Mount Arreat, where Baal made his final stand, and Tristram, the major city of the previous three games, can only be found outside Diablo 4's test area. This would let players to explore the territories ravaged by the Prime Evils and maybe unearth Diablo's remnants.

All of this excludes the other worlds that have appeared in some form or another in every previous Diablo game, such as Heaven, Hell, and the Pandemonium Fortress. Given Diablo's history of expansions and the continuous upgrades often associated with MMOs, it is likely that these worlds will appear in Diablo 4 at some point, even if they are not included in the main game. For the time being, Diablo 4's choice to follow the open-world trend of other video games means that there will be plenty of room to explore.
